History of Game Notes
I started Game Notes before the 2002 football season. I was on Tigernet's chat boards a lot, expressing my opinion about the state of Clemson football and specifically about the details of each game. I already had my own website. And I had started a blog using the Wordpress software. So it seemed like a logical step to blog my opinions and thoughts there instead of on a chat board.
The first two seasons went fine with blog posts about each game, some more complete than others. You can see all the old posts here in chronological order. Then 2004 brought signficant changes in my personal life and I've never gotten back to setting down my thoughts about every game. I usually start off the season blogging the first few games, but then other things---real life for instance---take me away from Game Notes. I hope friends that read these pages, and maybe even look forward to them, will forgive me for the annual roller coaster that is my attention to Game Notes.
I do Game Notes for my own satisfaction. Sometimes, I just want to write down what I think about a game or a topic to clarify my own thoughts. I doubt very many read these pages. But they're fun to do when I have time or have something to say.
For the geeks out there: I noted that I started this blog using Wordpress. The frequent updates to that software to address security vulnerabilites that come with having executable code (PHP in this case) on your web server became a hassle. (This is not a knock on Wordpress. I believe it's one of the best blogging platforms out there. It's just that security vulnerablities are inherent in having any executeable code on your web server.) The solution to that was to eliminate the executable code and go back to static HTML pages. So Game Notes is now hand-coded to eliminate spam and hacks. One good thing I lost in moving away from Wordpress was the ability to get and manage comments. Now, if you have any comments on Game Notes, you will have to e-mail them to me at jcb37310 {at} yahoo.com.
Go Tigers!!
